Life in the earliest years of the Church of Jesus Christ was definitely different. It was new and exciting and at the same time dangerous and confusing. All of us would do well to recapture the energy and commitment of those who first took up the task of taking the church into the future - even as the idea began to fade that Christ's return was coming soon. The odds of success were not even measurable, but extraordinary yet everyday people filled with the Holy Spirit took up the challenge. And, here we are today because they were willing to, in Paul's words, "fight the good fight of faith". People like Timothy and Titus, who received letters of encouragement and instruction from the Apostle Paul in the last years of his life and ministry, began the era of the Church that we are still living in today. Paul's letters to Timothy and Titus found in the New Testament provide encouragement, instruction, and the certain hope that Christ's plan is to be fulfilled by regular, faithful people who are willing to take up the good fight of faith.
Please join us as we learn together that it means to be a modern-day Timothy and why they good fight of faith involves every person who lives by the grace of Jesus Christ - and, why choosing to take up this challenge is the most important thing you will ever do.
Pastor Jim Witherow begins this sermon series on September 12th.
